Following extensive use of pesticides over the years, insects have developed a strong resistance to poisonous substances. This has led to the use of products in increasingly higher concentrations and containing even stronger poisons to which pests develop further resistance. We are trapped in a vicious circle where the environment becomes polluted, but pests still enter the food web.
